The backstops of belt conveyors are industrial devices that are designed to protect inclined belt conveyors from the dangers of gravity-accelerated reverse runaways. SKE backstops are designed to be used as a safety mechanism to prevent roll-offs or catastrophic system failures.

Types of Conveyor Backstops

The conveyor backstop is typically defined by low-speed or high-speed use.

1. Ratchet and Pawl.
2. Differential Handbrake.
3. Overrunning Clutch Design.

How to Choose Conveyor Backstops?

Determine Types: Low-speed or high-speed.
Determine Size: The torque ratings are one of the most important specifications you'll need to consider.
Bearing Capacity: You need tell us that the conveyor backstop is rated in the maximum force they are able to sustain.

What Are the Applications?

Backstops are crucial components of a safe and functional mechanical operation. If a drive pulley has failed and the belt needs to be stopped immediately, your conveyor's backstop will kick into operation and stop the system right away. Inclined belt conveyors require an anti-runback device to prevent reverse movement of the belts. Such a device is referred to as a backstop, or holdback. Though backstops are most likely to be found on inclined conveyors, they are also employed on flat, overland conveyors to avoid the unusually severe shock loading on start-up where the loaded belt sags between idlers.
